Who are Cheap Hotel?

Cheap Hotel formed around 2005-2006 after drummer and backing vocalist, Gregg Braden answered an advert placed in the NME. With Anna Calvi fronting the band (vocals and guitar) and Ulli Mattsson on fretless bass and backing vocals, the trio toured the UK and Ireland with The Pigeon Detectives, Acoustic Ladyland and Mr Hudson and the Library. After discovering their music on Myspace, actor / musician Jared Leto invited Cheap Hotel to support his band, 30 Seconds to Mars for two sold out shows at Hammersmith Apollo. Cheap Hotel hosted their own monthly club night at The George Tavern in Whitechapel named, “Pretty Vacancies” and in 2008, released their debut single, “New York” with an accompanying promotion video. The band finally announced their split via Facebook in 2009.
